Alberto Burzi Langhe Nebbiolo 'Runcaja' 2023
Vintage Character
Alberto Burzi Langhe Nebbiolo 'Runcaja' 2023 is a Langhe DOC Nebbiolo from Piedmont, crafted in the hills around La Morra, where the variety gives a more lifted, perfumed expression than in many neighboring zones. The 2023 vintage in Piedmont was shaped by a warm growing season balanced by enough freshness to preserve Nebbiolo’s aromatic detail, making this a youthful, accessible vintage with strong regional character. Its origin in the Langhe’s calcareous marl-rich slopes helps explain the wine’s floral lift, fine-boned tannins, and subtle mineral tension.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
On the nose, expect red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and violet, followed by hints of anise, licorice, dried herbs, and a light peppery note. The palate is medium-bodied and precise, with energetic acidity, supple but present tannins, and a clean, savory finish that keeps the fruit in focus rather than pushing toward weight. This is an elegant Nebbiolo that pairs beautifully with tajarin with butter and sage, roast veal, or mushroom risotto.
Winery Background
Alberto Burzi is a small, quality-driven producer in La Morra whose work is rooted in family vineyards and a clear commitment to expressing site over cellar artifice. The estate has earned attention for artisanal production and for wines that emphasize fragrance, balance, and classic Piedmontese identity. Vineyard work is careful and detail-oriented, and the cellar approach favors traditional Nebbiolo transparency through measured extraction and restrained oak influence, allowing the character of the fruit and the finesse of La Morra to remain at the center.
