Bond Estate 'St. Eden' Napa Valley 2020
Vintage Character
The 2020 vintage in Napa Valley was marked by a warm, dry growing season, which led to wines of notable concentration, power, and structure.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Bond 'St. Eden' 2020, awarded an impressive 96 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, is a striking single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, where volcanic, iron-rich hillside soils lend a distinctive mineral edge to the wine. Aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, crushed violets, and subtle cocoa rise from the glass, while the palate unfolds with dense layers of blackberry, plum, and espresso, all wrapped in a luxurious, velvety texture. The tannins are firm yet polished, supporting a long, stately finish accented by savory minerality and hints of sage. This wine pairs exceptionally well with classic Western dishes such as herb-crusted rack of lamb, aged ribeye steak, or a rich mushroom risotto; for cheese lovers, a slice of aged Comté beautifully highlights the wine’s depth and complexity.
Winery Background
Bond is the visionary project of Bill Harlan, founded to reveal the unique personalities of Napa Valley’s most exceptional vineyard sites through single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. St. Eden, named for its allusion to paradise, exemplifies the estate’s dedication to terroir-driven excellence. The vineyard sits on gently sloping hillsides in Oakville, where volcanic soils rich in iron contribute to the wine’s signature character. Bond employs sustainable viticulture, meticulous hand sorting, and precision winemaking, ensuring that every step—from canopy management to fermentation—faithfully translates the vineyard’s essence into the bottle. The estate’s philosophy centers on purity, longevity, and the celebration of site-specific nuance, making each release a benchmark for collectors and enthusiasts seeking Napa Valley’s ultimate expressions.
