Barnett Merlot, Spring Mountain District, 2017 comes from Napa Valley’s mountain appellation of Spring Mountain District, an AVA known for cooler temperatures, steep slopes, and complex volcanic as well as sedimentary soils. The 2017 growing season brought a warm, early year in Napa, yielding concentrated fruit and generous structure, and in mountain sites like this one the elevation helped preserve freshness and definition. That combination gives this wine a distinctive profile: Merlot shaped by a rugged hillside environment rather than valley-floor richness alone, with tension, lift, and savory depth.
