Screaming Eagle The Flight 2019
Vintage Character
The 2019 vintage in Oakville, Napa Valley delivered wines of exceptional freshness and balance, thanks to a cool, wet spring followed by a consistently warm summer that allowed for gradual ripening and nuanced flavor development.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded an outstanding 96 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Screaming Eagle The Flight 2019 is a proprietary red blend crafted primarily from Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This wine captivates with a fragrant bouquet of ripe black cherries, violets, graphite, and delicate baking spices. On the palate, it offers a plush, luxurious texture, with silky tannins framing notes of plum, cassis, dark chocolate, and a touch of espresso. The finish is long and refined, revealing mineral undertones and subtle savory herbs. The Flight is a versatile companion to dishes such as herb-crusted rack of lamb, mushroom risotto, and aged Gouda cheese, while Peking duck provides an East-meets-West pairing that highlights its supple texture and vibrant fruit profile.
Winery Background
Screaming Eagle stands as one of Napa Valley’s most iconic and sought-after estates, renowned for its unwavering commitment to quality and precision in both vineyard management and winemaking. The estate’s philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention and meticulous grape selection, ensuring that only the finest fruit is used for each bottling. Situated in the heart of Oakville, the vineyard benefits from gravelly, well-drained soils and a unique microclimate that fosters the development of wines with extraordinary purity, depth, and elegance. The Flight was conceived to showcase the estate’s exceptional Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and it reflects the same rigorous standards and innovative spirit that have made Screaming Eagle a benchmark for excellence in California winemaking.
