Vintage Character 2018 Stewart Cellars 'Nomad' Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernet sites. The 2018 vintage is widely regarded as excellent in Napa Valley, with a long, even growing season that allowed Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen thoroughly while retaining balance and detail. Set on the western side of Oakville on the famed alluvial soils of the To Kalon corridor, this origin is prized for producing fruit of remarkable concentration, polish, and aromatic lift.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing The Wine Advocate awarded this wine 95 points, underscoring the pedigree of both site and execution. The nose is layered with cassis, ripe blackberry, black cherry and violet, followed by graphite, espresso and well-integrated cedar from élevage. On the palate it is full-bodied and structured, with dense dark fruit, finely packed tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish carrying notes of cocoa, licorice and crushed stone. It pairs beautifully with dry-aged ribeye, rosemary lamb loin, or porcini risotto.
Winery Background Founded in 2000, Stewart Cellars is a family-run Napa Valley producer built around sourcing fruit from elite vineyard sites and translating each site faithfully in bottle. For Nomad, the estate works with Beckstoffer To Kalon fruit and a meticulous small-lot approach shaped by winemaker Blair Guthrie. The fruit is hand-harvested, and the wine is matured in French oak to frame the vineyard’s power with finesse. What sets Stewart apart is its combination of access to benchmark vineyards and a polished, site-driven style that gives this bottling true icon-wine stature.
